A pre-engineered lining consists of several hundred match marked individual ceramic pieces with each piece designed to fit at a particular position within the lining. In the design and manufacture, consideration needs to be given to all facets/faces of each individual piece that make up the lining to form a consistent cost-effective ceramic lining of sound integrity through the full thickness of the liner. When lining components of a geometry or shape the dimensions of each tile are critical to ensure an exact fit. With properly designed and installed, pre-engineered ceramics mimic the features of a monolithic part and at the same time exhibit improvements with respect to the manner in which the ceramic will behave in service.
